Recently I realised that I've never eaten sushi, as far as I can remember. Perhaps I shouuld rectify this? Salmon marinated in vodka was a recipe I experimented with, a long long time ago, but that's really the extent of my knowledge of raw fish. Though ISTR learning that what I thought of as sushi is actually sashimi.

I'm with you. Sometimes I think I need to hand in my native New Yorker card (along with my married-to-a-Jew card) because I cannot stand sushi. I have eaten it many times and still I do not like it. It's raw fish *shudder*. I can't stand the mouth feel of raw fish; the taste is okay. I don't love it but it doesn't make me retch or anything. The texture is horrifying to me, though. (No, I don't eat smoked salmon or anything like that either.)

I will eat veggie sushi and I'll eat California roll or some other cooked roll from time to time. I don't mind the seaweed so much. It's just the *shudder* raw fish ;-)

Well, I've never even tried raw fish. I don't like cooked fish (didn't, even before I was vegetarian), so really have no desire to try it raw. It's just the flavor of the seaweed (I think) that becomes too much after about the second roll.
