Stew for dinner tonight, since it's windy and autumnal feeling :) Oh, and I have loads of vegetables! My new library has a fruit and veg co-op buying scheme so I tried it out this week. I bought a standard fruit bag and a standard vegetable bag, both £2.50. My fruit bag had 4 apples (Pink Lady), 4 oranges, 3 kiwifruit, a big bunch of bananas (7, I think) and a large honeydew melon. I ate nearly all the apples on Thursday, when it was delivered, as I had the mother and father of all hangovers and apples were all I could face. Not the best things, though!* In my veg bag I got about a pound of potatoes, 6/7 carrots, a cabbage, 2 green peppers, some onions and a head of broccoli. Oh, and leeks as well. The produce is really, really nice and I'll be getting it again. It's very handy too, it gets delivered to the library and you just pay cash/cheque on delivery. There are other options too, like a salad bag or a premium veg bag, that had artichokes and fennel in it lst week. Of course, only I eat cabbage so I'll have to think of something to do with it soon!

* [We had my leaving do from the Outer West libraries on Wednesday night. I didn't think I had that much wine and definitely less than others, but I was very drunk. And then very ill. No headache, but my stomach was baaaad! Meal was scrummy, though. I ws the only ill one the following morning.]

Hey that sounds like really good value for all those fruit and veggies! No excuses not to be healthy from now on! (Apart from the odd encounter with vino of course ;) )
I love cabbage too. It is always one of the first things I request when I go home to Ireland. I am also a fan of brussels sprouts but I am the only one I know who likes them. Must get Ali hooked on them!

I like cabbage cooked with the bacon or ham for dinner :) I'm not a big fan of sprouts, when they are nice and small I quite like them, and I do use them sliced in stir-frys, but I'm as happy to leave them as buy them! One year my brother Niall ate nothing but a plate of sprouts for tea on Christmas day, we think he had some kind of vitamin deficiency ;-) The following year he wouldn't eat any at all!

Wow! I wouldn't want to miss out on the turkey and roast potatoes. When I had Ali I had a meal one day that involved mash and brussels sprouts.. heavenly :-)
Not chatting anymore?
