Trying to sleep last night I heard many squeaks, squals, scratchings and other assorted noises from outside th bedroom door. [livejournal.com profile] whirlywitchette had stirred and chattered when D and I came to bed, so at first I thought it was Squinky the cat attempting to come and play. She is not allowed in the bedroom any more, but she loves playing wiht [livejournal.com profile] whirlywitchette so she rarely ceases trying to break in. It must have been at least 40 minutes she scratted about on the landing. She was driving me mad, but I ignored her because the door squaks and I didn't want to wake young munchkin. By the time she shut up, though, I had a very strong suspicion she had been carrying out dastardly deeds. The noises were very suspicious.

Cut to this morning. D woke up early again and snuck out of bed without me noticing. When I did get up he informed me that he had found a mouse corpse when he stepped out the door. Luckily he was reasonably awake so didn't stand on it :) Squinky hasn't had a mouse for ages, but last night she was up to her old tricks again. D had disposed of the sad corpse before we got up.
