Recently our Bok of the Month collection caught my eye so I borrowed a copy of the book. It's by Christie DickasonThe Firemaster's Mistrsss. I've had it at home for a couple of weeks now so when I finished reading another book the other night I started this. It was really gripping, quite quickly, and I wanted to get on with it so i took it up to read in the bath. Bet you can see where this is going...it was actually
whirlywitchette's bath but she asked me to get in too, so i sat in and read while it was running and she threw bubbles at her bath toys. She hopped in when it was full she played. I thought I'd better put the book to one side in case it fell in the water, I moved, she moved, we crashed, book fell in. Oops. It was almost brand new, it hasn't been out more than twice. Trust the library staff member to pick the nicest copy to read. I will pay for its replacement if it's still bubbly and bobbly and misshapen when I take it out from under the heavy pile of books that have been flattening it for 3 nights. I think I might even finish it now - i was most disgusted by the fact that I was engrossed in the story and had to put it aside!
I did read two wonderful Margaret Frazer books instead, the first two books of a series featuring mediaeval player, Joliffe and the acting company to which he belongs. Historical fiction is just suiting my mood at the moment.
