In my dazed and somnolent mental haze in the shower this morning I got to wondering about shower habits. When I'm washing my hair in the shower (every 2nd or 3rd day) I exclusively stand with my back to the spray. If I'm not washing my hair I'll start off facing the spray but end up with the warm water running over my next and back, reluctant to step out. I have no problems with water spray in my face but I rarely wash my face in the shower because it dries my skin. Usually by the time I'm covered in soap lather or shower gel I'll have my back to the spray and I'll just walk or lean backwards to rinse it off. The odd time I'll revolve to rinse off but it's not my habit. So then I was curious about what everyone else did.

Is there any correlation between hair length and which way you face, I wonder? I got in the habit of having my back to the shower head when younger because rinsing my hair took forever so now I tend to put on the shampoo, and then let the water start to rinse it out while I wash the rest of me...

That's the reason for me as well.

Even when I have short hair I stand with my back to the shower head.

I hate water running down my face so I actively avoid facing into the shower.

My toothbrush lives in a different bathroom to the shower :-)

I think I have washed my hair in the shower at least 364 days every year for the past 50 years. I wash my face facing the water, then turn around for the rest. It has never occurred to me to brush my teeth in the shower, but it sounds icky to me.

I have my back to the shower because I don't like the water hitting my face. I'm fine with it flowing down my face from above and slightly behind, but not facing into it.
